The Funneling Story
Funneling began as a result of a growing burden to reach Japanese people for Christ. I made my first ministry trip to Japan in 2004. Before going, I knew how desperate the situation for Christianity was there. Less than one-half of one percent of Japanese self-identify as Christian. Many have never heard the truth about Jesus. And the few who have heard don't seem to understand the gospel story. I came home after my first trip determined to learn why the response to Christianity in Japan is so slow. I quickly discovered that my academic background in organizational communication, combined with my ministry as a pastor-teacher, would yield insights into the problems I had observed in Japan. Funneling represents the fruit of my study over the last ten years. Little did I realize at the beginning how impactful these insights would become not just in relation to ministry in Japan, but to many other places as well, including the US. I am eager to share what I've learned with all who are similarly burdened to increase their effectiveness in proclaiming the good news.
